i wrote this song in summer 2020. it is one of those few songs of mine devoted to love 💔

before i used to care too much about my affairs of the heart, but it seems that i finally learned to cope with my emotions. "a drum beats within me" is about control, disillusionment, unrealistic expectations... these all in the clear message are there in lyrics

when the heartache has stricken me in summer 2020, i took my bike and went for a ride for all day long with The Cure in my headphones. I was angry, irritated. I was very upset, didn`t cry though. I was upset, that people can`t take care of each other, be responsible for their impulses, hints, uncovered flirting. Deeds.⠀

drum was rolling within me, i was enraged of the fact of discovering myself in such situation. feelings took turns, so that time moved slowly and i wished to fight and curse, next moment - total apathy... i had this emotional swings turnaround, but i managed with this, it`s past and gone now⠀

i couldn`t tell anybody (though cried to my closest), i was asked to keep the incident in secret. in the end i found nothing more acceptable but to pour my feelings out to the song⠀

thank heavens, i have my music 🎶 🖤
